How to choose a paddle board for two
Add up the real weight, then add a third: Two adults at 180 lb each plus paddles, a cooler and a dog is well over 400 lb. A board loaded to its stated maximum sits deep and paddles badly, so treat the capacity figure as a limit you stay comfortably under rather than a target.
Width is for stability, length is for speed: Thirty four to thirty five inches is the minimum for two adults, and sixty inches is a platform rather than a board. Length is what stops a loaded board plowing, which is why the twelve and fourteen foot options paddle so much better fully loaded than the eleven footers.
Pressure decides whether it flexes: All inflatable boards get their stiffness from air pressure, and a board carrying two people is the worst case for flex in the middle. Look for a stated maximum of at least 15 PSI and inflate to it, since drop stitch construction only reaches its designed rigidity near the top of its range.
